Artist Statement

Lesya Maria Nakoneczny is an artist based in Montreal, Canada. Her work considers identity, the psyche, collective experience and interpersonal relationships through a conceptual and intermedia art practice, rooted in video, photography, performance, sculpture, sound and the internet. Current key considerations include how capitalism and technology converge on individuals and society, internet culture, ethics, and the relationship between URL and IRL spaces. Points of departure in her work include the mental and physical experiences of embodiment, the aesthetics of emotion, modern day rituals, gender, spirituality, sexuality and the relationship between art and mindfulness.
